Job Title: Lead Cook

Position Overview
Primarily responsible for completing Cook responsibilities. Supervises and coordinates activities of food preparation and kitchen personnel by performing the following duties
Job Duties and Responsibilities
The following is a list of the job duties as they relate to Pick Up Stix’ four focus areas of performance. The ability to perform these duties is essential for this position. Other duties may be assigned by your manager as required.
Teamwork
- Assist the Store Manager in maintaining high standards of store operations
- Maintain positive and open communication with the FOH, BOH teams and Company Leaders
- Perform Kitchen Helper, Oil Cook Food Coordinator, Cook duties as needed
- Assist in the maintenance of proper Company and government required documents on staff
- Assist in writing staff schedules
- Interview and hire prospective BOH employees
- Participate in performance evaluation process
- Discipline employees
- Support operations by performing any other duty as assigned, to ensure the restaurant is producing to standards
Standards
- Ensure they are supporting and following recipes, wok news, food focus program and other materials as applicable
- Maintain a professional kitchen environment at all times
- Always practice WOK safety standards
- Estimate food and beverage costs, maintaining correct inventories (par levels = Line Check)
- Assist in special promotions, as needed
- Control food costs, and kitchen labor
- Supervise BOH staff to ensure cleanliness of kitchen and equipment to Quality Visitation Report standards
- Supervise Cook. Taste, smell and observe food to ensure conformance with recipes and appearance standards
- Supervise workers engaged in inventory, storage and distribution of foodstuffs and supplies
- Purchase foodstuffs, kitchen supplies, and equipment or
Sales
- Address Guest complaints
- Resolve problems
- Plan or participate in preparing and apportioning foods, utilizing food surpluses, and leftovers
Quality
- Ensure food and product quality to Pick Up Stix operational standards
- Prepare menu items to order
- Consistently adhere to Pick Up Stix recipes and standards
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises 3-9 employees in the BOH. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws and must be flexible with their work schedule.
Qualifications
The Lead Cook must be able to perform each of the listed job duties satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or
- One (1) year of related experience and/or training, or
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of Pick Up Stix.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Qualifications
- Must have 1-2 years of Chinese cooking experience.
- Must have worked as a Pick Up Stix Cook.
- Ability to train, develop and motivate all staff.
- Must pass all required tests for this position.
