Provides oversight for the organization’s wound prevention and care program to implement standardized evidence-based care and the achievement of exceptional clinical outcomes.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serves as a resource, mentor, and content expert for wound nurses.
  • May provide input for hiring, training, directing, developing and evaluating wound nurses.
  • Coordinates responsibilities among the department nurses to help sustain the standards of the program, including monthly meetings and new initiatives/products as they are identified.
  • Coordinates development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of standardized wound scorecard.
  • Works to standardize wound practices across the organization to ensure maintenance of evidence-based practice.
  • Ensures that all wound order sets/policies and procedures/guidelines are reviewed annually, with incorporation of the latest guidelines and evidence-based practice.
  • Coordinates the completion of the monthly/quarterly/annual communication/education offering.
  • Coordinates schedule for the wound nurse orientation lectures and completes annual review of wound orientation materials.
  • Functions as the liaison to the system professional nurse practice council and other regional and system clinical groups.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing


EXPERIENCE

  • Three years' wound nursing experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional driving.
  • Rare crawling and running.
