Provides oversight for the organization’s wound prevention and care program to implement standardized evidence-based care and the achievement of exceptional clinical outcomes.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as a resource, mentor, and content expert for wound nurses.
May provide input for hiring, training, directing, developing and evaluating wound nurses.
Coordinates responsibilities among the department nurses to help sustain the standards of the program, including monthly meetings and new initiatives/products as they are identified.
Coordinates development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of standardized wound scorecard.
Works to standardize wound practices across the organization to ensure maintenance of evidence-based practice.
Ensures that all wound order sets/policies and procedures/guidelines are reviewed annually, with incorporation of the latest guidelines and evidence-based practice.
Coordinates the completion of the monthly/quarterly/annual communication/education offering.
Coordinates schedule for the wound nurse orientation lectures and completes annual review of wound orientation materials.
Functions as the liaison to the system professional nurse practice council and other regional and system clinical groups.
Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Graduate of accredited school of nursing
EXPERIENCE
Three years' wound nursing experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
Constant standing and walking.
Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry.
Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
Occasional driving.
Rare crawling and running.
