A top-selling California cannabis brand is seeking an experienced director to lead People & Culture during an exciting period of hyper-growth. As the Director of People & Culture, you will be a key leader and responsible for developing a best-in-class employee experience while developing our people systems around measurement and growth. Your focus will be on finding and developing talent, establishing career paths, creating a high-performance culture, recruiting, establishing systems for employee measurement, and bracketing and developing a cultural initiative that supports our desire for a work hard play hard culture.


Responsibilities

  • Own all people operations processes including performance review cycles, compensation reviews and planning, benefits administration, legal and regulatory compliance. Will work directly with our GC and outside counsel.
  • Recruiting and talent acquisition. Director will build out recruiting function including internal and externals systems. Develop strategies with hiring managers to attract and retain top talent with a focus on a diverse and inclusive team.
  • Establish data driven and measured employee evaluation and development programs.
  • Improve upon and be a champion of culture. We push against being too corporate, meaning our director will need to be flexible for an agile feel without compromising measured employee production.


Required Skills

  • Experienced people person with 5-10 years of experience with the full range of people functions. Deep knowledge in HR compliance is a must.
  • A self-starter with entrepreneurial spirit to proactively take ownership and build out our people department while creating excitement and start up energy across the company.
  • An excellent project manager with a proven ability to design and implement people operation systems that drive business results.
  • A natural coach and mentor with the ability to relate to the wide range of employees.
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be tech savvy and easily navigate memorialized strategy and planning documentation requirements. Must be a quick study with company software stack.
  • A data driven decision maker with the ability to create a fair and equitable, but a strong ROI from people ops.

Desired Skills

  • Minimum BA/BS degree. HR certifications are a plus.
  • Prior experience at a rapidly scaling cannabis, CPG, or technology company is a plus.
