Responsibilities of a Clinical Supervisor:
  • Maintain responsibility for the supervision, instruction, development, and counseling and performance evaluation of professional nurses, including documentation of such activities;
    • Monitors or provide oversight of nurse tasks or functions delegated to and performed by field Registered Nurses (RNs) or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs);
    • Completes annual performance evaluations on all nursing staff;
    • Serves as a preceptor in the field for all new nurses, as needed;
    • Monitors for nurse performance that falls below expectations set by Integrity;
      • As necessary, review paperwork/documentation for accurate, complete documentation and the appropriateness of the nursing action by the field nurse;
  • Develop and maintain on-going relationships with management, department staff, case workers, physicians, patients and family members to best meet the needs of clients;
  • Prepare and submit timely written documentation as required by policy;
  • Ensure that delivery of services is in compliance with company/state policies;
  • Responsible for ensuring that policies and procedures of the agency meet the clinical standards for proper care of clients, training of staff, and general clinical integrity of the in-home service provider;
  • Available resource person to other health team members in the identification and fulfillment of patient needs. Maintain liaison with the community’s health related resources;
  • Provide assistance in the development and implementation of the client’s plan of care;
  • Participate in education, quality assessment activities, and other staff meetings as requested;
  • May participate in the recruitment, interview, reference checking, and hiring of new department staff;
  • Observe documents and timely reports any changes in the client’s condition to the appropriate personnel and/or physician;
  • Perform client visits, as needed, with authorization by applicable funding source. Appropriate documentation and paperwork must be completed and maintained in the client record. Visits may include, but are not limited to:
    • New client admissions;
    • Initial and routine nursing visits;
    • Initiation, and re-certification of care;
  • Advanced Personal Care (APC) training and visits;
  • Act within the realm of accepted standards of practice for the RN as stated in the Nurse Practice Act for the State of Missouri and/or Kansas as applicable;
  • Responsible for conducting Nurse Aide class for all qualified Advanced Personal Care Aides (APCAs) and Certified Nurse Aides (C.N.A.s);
  • Ensure Advanced Personal Care (APC) tasks, and delegated nursing tasks, are trained and delivered in a manner compliant with state program requirements and the state Nurse Practice Act:
  • Provide staff training to include APC certification, appropriate follow-up and in-service presentation;
  • Conduct or oversee the completion of:
    • On-the-job training (OJT) and competency testing for APCAs;
    • Initial APC assessment visits and develop the APC plan of care for participants, in collaboration with the state agency staff or its designee;
    • On-site visits to all APC participants at intervals no greater than six months to contemporaneously record and certify an individualized evaluation of the participant’s condition, the adequacy of the authorized services to meet the needs and conditions of the participant, including a review of the care plan with the participant;
    • Monthly authorized nurse visits to evaluate the condition of the APC participant and the adequacy of the care plan to meet the needs and conditions of the participant, including a review of the care plan with the participant;
Qualifications for a Clinical Supervisor:
 
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age per state guidelines
 
Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent, some college or post-high school education preferred.
o Registered Nurse (RN) who is currently licensed in Missouri;
o Possess a Baccalaureate degree;
o Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who is currently licensed in Missouri with at least one (1) year of experience with the direct care to the elderly, disabled or inform;
o Minimum three (3) years’ experience in the direct care of the elderly, disabled or infirmed.
 
Experience:
• Minimum one (1) year experience acting in a supervisory capacity preferred;
• Minimum three (3) years’ experience working with the elderly, disabled or informed preferred;
• Healthcare experience strongly preferred.
