We are seeking experienced engineers and research scientists, with a strong record of innovation in the design, development, and deployment of advanced algorithms within embedded systems, to join our team at our site in Orlando, Florida.
Opportunities exist to join or lead small multi-disciplinary teams of engineers and algorithm developers through the full lifecycle of product development (internal research and development, business capture, mission analysis, design reviews, developmental field testing, performance assessments, and algorithm deployment).

You should be a self-starter who is comfortable multi-tasking across a number of programmatic and technical responsibilities and work well in a collegial team environment among subject matter experts coming from a variety of academic backgrounds.

Newcomers to the defense industry coming from academia as well as experienced candidates have historically integrated well with our team, so both are encouraged to apply. All candidates must at least be eligible for a SECRET level security clearance or have an active clearance of SECRET or higher.

Algorithm research and development focus areas include but are not limited to: inertial and GPS-aided navigation, Kalman filtering, object tracking, object classification, machine learning, data science, and physics-based modeling and simulation.

Basic Qualifications:
• Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or similar. (PhD with 0 - 5 years of experience, or MS + 3 years of experience, or BS + 5 years of experience)
• Coursework in linear algebra, probability and statistics, and multivariate calculus.
Desired Skills:
• Coursework or professional experience in Kalman filtering or optimal state estimation
• Proficiency in MATLAB or similar computer algebra software
• Experience with linear algebra software packages
• Strong programming skills that can translate to C++ development in a Linux environment
• Proficiency in deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements
• Proficiency in the processing and analysis of big data
• Strong understanding of the physics of motion sensing devices
• Knowledge of infrared detection technology, radiometry, and imaging sensors

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
