Overview

Under the direction of the Vice-President of Community Health, the Project Manager is responsible for project management, business planning, analytics, and integration of projects. In this highly visible position, the Project Manager also assists in the oversight of the development and implementation of community outreach strategies and initiatives to further our community outreach mission to meet the needs of historically marginalized and at-risk populations.

Responsibilities

Business Planning and Analysis

  • Assimilate and understand new subject matter quickly and incorporate knowledge into project deliverables.
  • Identify analyses for projects and develop complex analytic and quantitative frameworks/ models to assess the feasibility of new opportunities, analyze financial and operational performance to support decision-making in the department.
  • Budget monitoring related to DoN grantees and other regulatory financial reporting.
  • Work closely with staff to plan new initiatives e.g., community health needs assessments and implementation plan, and other projects related to compliance.
  • Identify potential solutions and novel approaches to support the development of new initiatives and/or to resolve identified issues.

Project Management

  • Independently prioritize and complete multiple concurrent projects. Effectively work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Effectively implement cross-functional communication with project teams, including small-to-medium size meetings.
  • Lead project management for strategic and operational priorities (e.g., define project scope, develop workplans and timeline, manage budget, escalate risks/issues, and oversee implementation and evaluation).
  • Develop and present work plans, dashboards, and financial reports to effectively monitor, evaluate, and report on the progress of projects to project teams and leadership.
  • Actively use critical thinking to anticipate, identify, and resolve issues. Escalate issues to department leadership when appropriate and provide recommendations to inform decision-making.
  • Independently develop content and analyses for project deliverables and meetings, such as presentations, financial analyses, project work plans and dashboards.
  • Exercise good judgement in decision-making and completing job responsibilities.
  • Review project deliverables for completeness, quality, and compliance with established standards.
  • Serve as a liaison with internal departments as well as external community-based partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree or healthcare experience preferred
  • Minimum four years of experience, preferably in a related project management position
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience
  • Experience with health information technology, especially electronic health records, and health care-related data
  • 3 years of experience leading and/or supporting projects required, preferably in a highly complex, matrixed organization such as an academic medical center, medical school teaching hospital, or consulting environment.
  • Extremely strong project management and organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to drive multiple concurrent projects to completion in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Self-motivated, independent, and able to learn new content quickly and apply it projects.
  • Effective diplomatic skills and ability to use good judgement and discretion.
  • Superior written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer-service skills with the ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills to evaluate all aspects of a situation and make appropriate decisions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure high quality deliverables.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of health care and academic medicine.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills and managerial ability.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professional, technical, and administrative staff and to integrate resources on a timely and organized basis.
  • Ability to distill complex information into key takeaways and present to variety of audiences.
  • Ability to prepare executive-level presentations, reports, and visuals.
  • Ability to assimilate and understand new subject matter quickly and incorporate knowledge into project deliverables.
  • Ability to take broad concepts or policy ideas and translate them into simple and accessible forms and/or presentations.
