Leidos is seeking a Finance Manager with earned value management and forecasting/budgeting experience to join our fast-paced and exciting Business Operations team working on the United States Antarctic Program (USAP).  

Leidos is the prime contractor for the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) and operates three research stations, two research vessels, and many field camps all in support of Science. The ASC team provides station operations, logistics, information technology, construction, maintenance and more on Antarctica and at support facilities worldwide. A few of the unique challenges include managing the world’s longest supply chain, building airfields on ice and snow, working in the world’s worst weather conditions, managing remote field camps, maintaining ice-breaking research vessels, and maintaining the largest research stations and laboratories on a bitterly cold and isolated continent.

About the Antarctic Support Contract:

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:

  • Vision:  Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.

  • Mission:  To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.

Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines.  The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

The Finance Manager will lead the Sustaining Projects finance team, work directly with management and program managers to help define the program's goals and objectives; create and maintain budgets and schedules, and analyze progress reported against the program baseline; identify risks and opportunities against the program baseline; and recommend actions to improve progress to achieve flawless program execution.

Ability to work in Centennial, CO is preferred, but telework is being heavily considered.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Managing a team of finance professionals to support budgeting, forecasting, and reporting objectives; delegating and organizing team responsibilities to achieve multiple priorities.

  • Working closely with Senior Leadership, Program Managers and Cost Account Managers (CAMs) to prepare and present Customer reports, ASC program financial reports, Annual Operating Plan, and Leidos financial reporting.

  • Overseeing program financial month-end processes, including Program Finance and FP&A tasks such as: Program EAC/Forecasting, subcontractor cost evaluation, contract modification approvals.

  • Utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts and reporting

  • Budgeting and Forecasting costs in COBRA (budget and earned value system).

  • Working closely with Scheduling partners to create and consolidate data from CAM’s and other finance analysts to create and maintain accurate and credible budgets and forecasts.

  • Flexibly incorporating changes in customer/budgeting environment into Corporate financial projections.

  • Understanding and incorporating Leidos cost structures, business architecture, and financial policies & procedures.

  • Working independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables.

  • Analyzing data and prepares accurate and timely information to management in support of decision-making activities. 

  • Direct support of Lead PFA, PM, and PMO team in all aspects of program financial reporting and procurement analysis and reporting.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline plus 5+ years related experience or a Master’s and 3+ years of experience.  

  • Ability to successfully complete difficult and complex assignments within the program, and manage multiple priorities.

  • Ability to manage a team of professionals in a remote/telework environment, including team members and key stakeholders across different time zones.

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications; such as: Project, Excel, Power Point and Word.    

  • Demonstrated history of analytical experience, to include data reporting on complex topics, and ability to incorporate such topics into financial forecasts.

  • Proactive approach to unclear problems and willingness to problem-solve autonomously.

  • Strong communication skills; demonstrated ability to communicate complex topics to program, customer, and Leidos leadership.

  • Keen attention to detail in analysis and presentation of data to various audiences.

  • Experience with COBRA planning tool or similar budgeting/forecasting/EVM tool.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline plus 8+ years related experience or a Master’s and 6+ years of experience. 

  • 2+ years of team management experience.

  • Strong knowledge of Leidos systems and processes including: CostPoint, Cognos, Fusion, SLICS, COBRA.

  • Expertise with Earned Value Management (EVM) concepts and reporting.

  • Strong understanding of government contracting industry/environment and complex contract types.

  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.

  • Experience creating Basis of Estimates (BOEs), pricing and participating in new business proposals, and preparing on-contract change proposals for customers.

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Security clearance.

Pay Range:Pay Range $81,900.00 - $126,000.00 - $170,100.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
