Job Description
This is a calendar year, non-tenure track Asst., Assoc., or Full Professor of Practice position in the School of Animal Sciences at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA. We are seeking an educator with practical knowledge/experience with livestock. The successful candidate will work cooperatively with faculty and staff members, students, and other programming partners to provide leadership in our animal evaluation/livestock judging programming efforts and other related livestock Extension programs. Responsibilities may include: mentoring students and advising activities, recruitment, fund raising, expanding internship opportunities, coordination and teaching animal production courses, and help organize youth and adult Extension programming events. Additional responsibilities will be based on the interests of the successful candidate and departmental needs.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Animal Sciences; Demonstrated experience in teaching; Strong background in livestock production systems, livestock evaluation, and the use of evaluation in livestock marketing; .Ability to work and communicate successfully with youth, undergraduate students, extension agents and volunteers, as well as with livestock industry clientele, in delivering programs is critical.
