MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field
  • 10+ years' of related, proven experience performing similar duties
  • Intermediate knowledge of DevOps methodologies and tools
  • Basic knowledge of Elastic Stack, programming language theory, operating systems, networking, and enterprise IT concepts, architectures, and systems
  • Expert level knowledge of Python and C/C++ development
  • Ability and experience effectively communicating technical and programmatic issues
  • Knowledge of PowerShell and POSIX shell scripting and virtualization and containerization technologies
  • Experience with project logistics and working with controlled engineering baselines
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively and accurately convey status and identify, assess, and communicate risks

DESIRED SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master's degree in technical field
  • 15+ years' of related, proven experience performing similar duties
  • 5+ years' of proven experience developing cyber range tools, including deployment automation, configuration automation, monitoring, and traffic generation
  • Expert knowledge of software development methodologies, including agile development
  • Expert knowledge of PowerShell and POSIX shell scripting and virtualization and containerization technologies
  • Direct experience using automated infrastructure configuration tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Chef
  • Experience building and/or maintaining complex enterprise infrastructures using various operating systems and services
  • Working knowledge of SQL and non-SQL databases
  • Familiarity with commercial cloud architectures, operations, and administration
  • TS/SCI desired, but not required to start

FILLING THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC) effort
  • Responsible for planning, direction and coordination of all software engineering efforts
  • Design, develop, build, test and oversee system architectures, including complex systems, and systems design activities
  • Responsible for technical performance and engineering costs and schedules and serves as the technical spokesperson for projects and/or programs
  • Ensure the conversion of mission requirements into total systems solutions that account for design and technology maturity constraints of the system
  • Maintain knowledge of current and developing technologies and design and analysis methodologies and develop models and architectural guidelines for current and future system development
  • Advise management and customers on operations and research studies and applications, including technology assessments, schedule and budget development to complete projects and deliver results to customers
