Job Description

The Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an IT Support Center Specialist. This position is responsible for a wide range of activities to include working on multiple, complex projects independently to functioning at a high level of technical variation and difficulty. Provides technical advice to other technicians, staff and faculty. Provides support on major implementations, ensuring services are not compromised and provides technical assistance on integration of various related systems. Provides high quality, prompt, and responsive user support services as well as providing hardware and software technical support as needed. Serves as a consultant to faculty on IT issues for research contracts. Provides classroom and conference room audiovisual support as necessary.

Required Qualifications

Must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of PC hardware and software support; experience performing computer repairs such as drive and memory installation; ability to assist with internal training; excellent communication skills and ability to establish effective working relationships with others; must be able to work independently as well as part of a team and to problemsolve and interact with faculty, staff and students; must be able to make decisions within the scope of responsibility. Must be able to safely move and handle up to 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with video teleconferencing and audiovisual equipment; working knowledge of networking, server operations, MS Windows and Macintosh operating systems; demonstrated knowledge of university policies, procedures, and systems; experience with the support of comprehensive, complex hospital management software; experience with ZOOM video teleconference and audiovisual equipment.
