Description :

The Chesapeake is hiring for a Skilled CNA. The CNA is responsible for providing direct care to residents under the direction of the Charge Nurse and to assist/perform activities of daily living with an emphasis on establishing and maintaining the highest level of resident independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

o Grooming and bathing residents with low mobility

o Preparing each resident room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment, and toiletries

o Helping residents eat and take medications

o Ensuring regular meals are provided and proper medication dosages are administered

o Monitoring and reporting vitals and resident behavior to the nursing and medical staff

o Assisting residents with mobility needs, i.e., transferring them from a wheelchair to a bed

o Turning or adjusting residents in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort

o Exercising residents by helping them walk

Requirements Minimum Qualifications :

o High school diploma or GED

o Currently licensed as a CNA in Virginia

o Excellent interpersonal skills, including customer service, patience, empathy, and compassion

o Effective communication skills, including active listening, writing, speaking, and reading comprehension

o Good collaboration and teamwork skills

o Fast and adaptive problem-solving abilities

o Keen attention to detail

o In-depth comprehension of patient care policies and regulations

o Familiarity with symptoms and signs of improvement for several medical conditions

o Comfortable working with specific populations of patients, including elderly patients and those with special needs

o Physical strength and stamina
