JOB SUMMARY
BrightStar currently has an opening for a Registered Nurse for part time to full time possibility per week assignment. We are looking for a candidate to provide a primary level of care in collaboration with other members of the health care team for a specific patient population. At BrightStar a Registered Nurse maintains an advanced knowledge base and skill in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, physical/psychosocial assessment, and management of health and illness in the care of individuals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct patient care as defined under the state medical board using sound judgment and critical thinking.
- Implement plan of care and treatment in a manner that is appropriate to patients ages physical ability and intellectual development.
- Provide accurate, detailed and timely documentation consistent with the plan of care.
- Conduct ongoing assessments.
- Participate in health/therapeutic counseling, teaching and emotional support to the client and family/caregivers.
- Assess and provide client education and information pertinent to diagnosis.
- Prepare, administer, and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications. Recognize the need for and institute emergency measures in a rapid and appropriate manner, when indicated.
- Follow principles of infection control and Universal Precautions.
- Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
- Use equipment properly and in a safe manner.
- Provide patient care in a professional, efficient and ethical manner, as well as in accordance with the standards and recommendations of applicable State laws and regulations, and the philosophy of the environment in a clinic.
- Demonstrate effective communication, both verbally and in writing. Computer knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate proficiency in assessing treatment and responses and adapting care to meet the needs of the patient population served.
