Registered Nurse - Part-time

JOB SUMMARY

BrightStar currently has an opening for a Registered Nurse for part time to full time possibility per week assignment. We are looking for a candidate to provide a primary level of care in collaboration with other members of the health care team for a specific patient population. At BrightStar a Registered Nurse maintains an advanced knowledge base and skill in health promotion and maintenance, disease prevention, physical/psychosocial assessment, and management of health and illness in the care of individuals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide direct patient care as defined under the state medical board using sound judgment and critical thinking.
2. Implement plan of care and treatment in a manner that is appropriate to patients ages physical ability and intellectual development.
3. Provide accurate, detailed and timely documentation consistent with the plan of care.
4. Conduct ongoing assessments.
5. Participate in health/therapeutic counseling, teaching and emotional support to the client and family/caregivers.
6. Assess and provide client education and information pertinent to diagnosis.
7. Prepare, administer, and appropriately document actions taken specific to commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications. Recognize the need for and institute emergency measures in a rapid and appropriate manner, when indicated.
8. Follow principles of infection control and Universal Precautions.
9. Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
10. Use equipment properly and in a safe manner.
11. Provide patient care in a professional, efficient and ethical manner, as well as in accordance with the standards and recommendations of applicable State laws and regulations, and the philosophy of the environment in a clinic.
12. Demonstrate effective communication, both verbally and in writing. Computer knowledge.
13. Excellent interpersonal skills.
14. Demonstrate proficiency in assessing treatment and responses and adapting care to meet the needs of the patient population served.
