About the Disability Resource Center
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is a frontline civil rights organization led by people with disabilities that advocates for an inclusive and accessible community for all . Our mission is to enhance the independence and inclusion of people with disabilities through advocacy, information and referral, peer support, skills training, and transitional services. DRC supports people living with disabilities to live as independently as they choose.
We are currently seeking a talented and dedicated Disability Resource Specialist to join our team.
As a Disability Resource Specialist you will:
Engage in community and legislative advocacy and educations to improve community accessibility and inclusion.
Assist consumers in achieving their personal goals and increased abilities to live independently.
Work with consumers in obtaining community resources and assistance programs such as MassHealth, SSI, SSDI, SNAP and other resources.
Support people living in nursing homes to transition back into the community.
This position required fieldwork in the community, and so applicants must have their own reliable transportation.
Qualifications :
People living with a disability highly encouraged to apply.
Bachelor Degree, or equivalent life experience.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Computer literate in Microsoft Office word processing and email applications.
Bi-lingual English/Spanish is a plus.
Must be committed to Independent Living Philosophy.
This is a full-time (35 hour), benefited position.
