Job Details

The Pediatric LVN is responsible for providing a wide range of nursing care in scope of practice in cooperation with physicians and other program clinicians at our 4 child and family clinics (South LA, Pico-Union, Glendale and Inglewood).

This position is partially remote, and you have the option to elect a 9/80 flex work schedule. This position will travel between sites, with the main work location being flexible depending on candidates preference.

Position Requirements:
  • Current California licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • 1-2 years experience as a psychiatric nurse in child & family outpatient or inpatient setting.
  • Ability to effectively record and report psychiatric/mental health and physical health symptoms.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to crises and client complaints professionally.
  • Knowledge of current medications used in the treatment of serious/persistent mental illness.
  • Ability to utilize EHR.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
  • CPR certification preferred.

Primary Duties:
  • This position will float between different child and family sites in LA to cover staffing needs.
  • Receives and responds to calls from clients/parents/guardians and staff regarding medication issues.
  • Attends treatment team meetings as assigned, providing consultation regarding medical issues in treatment planning; provides feedback on client response to treatment.
  • Develops and maintains a therapeutic relationship with clients/parents/guardians; meets with clients/parents/guardians as scheduled.
  • Review and follows up on laboratory/ H&P results, working as liaison between the Agency and laboratory provider and pediatrician.
  • Educates and communicates with clients/parents/guardians on the potential benefits and side effects of medication.
