Cook Assistant

Pay Details:

The starting hourly rate for this position is $18.00 per hour.

Cook positions are year-round, part time positions offering flexible schedules. Perfect for individuals who work a second job, attend school or simply want to work with an amazing team of people in a growing organization.

Being a Cook Assistant (Prep Cook) means that you'll set the tone for all of our guests to be able to have a great experience enjoying great food and beverages while they enjoy the ice.

Cook Assistants (Prep Cooks): Do you have experience in the kitchen? Can you follow directions, safely handle knives in the kitchen and read recipes? Do you understand food safety - temperature controls and knowledge of food allergens?

Responsibilities

• Have a full understanding of temperature controls and the proper equipment to monitor temperature through filling out daily Time and Temperature logs for your station
• Ensure accurate labeling, dating, and rotating using the FIFO method for all raw and prepped food products.
• Have knowledge of the eight most common food allergens, and follow standards set by Great Park Ice and Sports Complex.

lobster) 5) Wheat 6) Peanuts 7) Tree nuts (almonds, pecans, walnuts)

• Follow recipe guidelines to prepare food based on the current menu
• Practice proper work procedures, safety and sanitation standards
• Engage with venue guests, as well as, team members to ensure exceptional hospitality is provided/ received at all times
• Maintain food temperatures, food quality and appearance of prepared food to our established standards
• Have knowledge of all menu items, ingredients and how prepared
• Be comfortable with the arena and know how to navigate personally, as well as, assist guests.
• Support any other Food & Beverage departments as needed.
• Work with counter parts of operation to ensure event standards of service are reached.
• Other duties or tasks as assigned by supervisors and / or managers

Skills

• Has a basic understanding of following directions and quick learner
• Must demonstrated safe knife skills- after training
• Strong verbal communication skills
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work a flexible schedule in on any given day
• Show ability to work as a team player

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Education - Less Than High School

Certifications Required – Efood Handlers Cert
