Objectives of this Role:
- Support and lead projects for developing and analyzing turbomachinery systems.
- Perform field testing and laboratory testing to troubleshoot vibration issues.
- Perform field testing to troubleshoot vibration issues .
- Conduct site visits to gather failure evidence.
- Carry out root cause failure analysis.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
- Follow up on inquiries and write proposals.
- Travel to client facilities for field testing (vibration and/or performance).
- Mobilize to site to witness teardown and collect failure data.
- Perform mechanical analyses using finite element methods as needed (stress, modal, etc.).
- Analyze failure documentation to determine major contributors and write reports.
- Promote SwRI services in conferences through active participated in presenting technical publications.
Requirements:
- Requires a Bachelors with a minimum GPA of 3.20 in Mechanical Engineering
- 1-5 years: Experience with rotating machinery
- Familiarity with finite element analysis is desired
- Experience with reverse engineering is a plus
- Strong communications skills to interact with clients
- A valid/clear driver’s license is required
