Objectives of this Role:
  • Support and lead projects for developing and analyzing turbomachinery systems.
  • Perform field testing and laboratory testing to troubleshoot vibration issues.
  • Perform field testing to troubleshoot vibration issues .
  • Conduct site visits to gather failure evidence.
  • Carry out root cause failure analysis.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Follow up on inquiries and write proposals.
  • Travel to client facilities for field testing (vibration and/or performance).
  • Mobilize to site to witness teardown and collect failure data.
  • Perform mechanical analyses using finite element methods as needed (stress, modal, etc.).
  • Analyze failure documentation to determine major contributors and write reports.
  • Promote SwRI services in conferences through active participated in presenting technical publications.
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors with a minimum GPA of 3.20 in Mechanical Engineering
  • 1-5 years: Experience with rotating machinery
  • Familiarity with finite element analysis is desired
  • Experience with reverse engineering is a plus
  • Strong communications skills to interact with clients
  • A valid/clear driver’s license is required
