Must be able to multitask at a fast pace. The usual front office duties such as checking patients in and out, posting payment, verifying insurance, scanning other patient records into patient chart,
input/verifies and updates necessary information in the medical record; enters patient demographics, insurance information, etc. into the EMR correctly will be expected.
Assists with scheduling of imaging tests, referrals requested by the provider, and in-office procedures.
Maintains patient files, record and other information in a professional manner following policy and procedures regarding documentation
Maintains strict confidentiality; Follows the guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI)
Maintain appropriate levels of cash and balance the cash drawer per company procedure. May process payments received in person and by mail
Refers patients to supervisor or Accounts Receivable representative for clarification or discussion of account and/or payment terms
Assist in back office clinical when needed.
Utilizes knowledge of sterile technique and infection control procedures requires to clean and disinfect rooms and equipment, sterilizes instruments as needed
Back office, medical assistants are responsible for maintaining and stocking the exam and procedure rooms, taking vital signs, inputting patient history into EMR system, sterilizing instruments, prepare patient for exams and procedures, perform ekgs, blood draws, administering injections, collect routine CLIA waived lab tests such as strep, flu, covid-19 etc., assist with procedures, as well as anything else the provider orders for the patient.
