Hospitality Summer Internship - Full-time

As a summer intern with Common Ground Hospitality you will be a key member of one of our management teams in one of our five restaurants located in southern Delaware or Ocean City, Maryland. This role will have you shadow one of our mentor managers to start your internship. You will learn the day to day operations, routines, systems, tools and the management of our team members while providing a great guest experience. After your shadowing of one of our mentors you will become a summer shift supervisor taking on the role of a manager for your designated restaurant. During this time you will be given tasks to complete with your mentor manager such as, building team member schedules, staff management, business forecasting, ordering and inventory. This is a minimum of an 8 week program that can extend to 10 weeks.

End Date: Aug 13, 2023
Housing is the responsibility of the intern. Common Ground Hospitality will not provide housing for the program.
Qualifications
You are currently in your junior or senior year studying toward a degree in Hospitality, Management or similar or graduated.
You also have experience working in a full-service restaurant
You're a team player
You're ready to jump in and help with projects in order to help meet the needs of the business
Ability to move and lift up to 10 pounds, frequently move and/or lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to sit or stand for an entire shift and move safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven or slick surfaces
Responsibilities
Following training, you will work side by side with our Restaurant Management Team learning their roles and helping operate the restaurant on a day to day basis
Perform essential functions and key responsibilities listed in hourly job description (e.g., host, server, runner, busser, cook, shift supervisor etc.) for the assigned role determined by intern’s supervising manager at designated restaurant location
Safely and effectively use and operate all necessary tools and equipment
Work a variety of days and shifts including weekends and nights
Effectively communicate in order to perform and follow job requirements in written and spoken direction
Multitask calmly and effectively in a busy, stressful environment
Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and anticipate guests’ needs
Greet guests with a warm, sincere demeanor
Use tact and good judgment when dealing with guest challenges and respond to guest needs with patience and courtesy
Comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
Follow all rules, policies, procedures and conditions of employment, including those outlined in the Employee Handbook
Get along well with others and be a team player
Delegate and manage subordinates in a professional manner aligned with company standards.
Other duties will be assigned as needed
