Our hospital is looking for experienced nurses like you to join our 24 bed medical/stroke/telemetry unit specializing in care of the neuroscience patients. All patient rooms are private. This team-oriented unit handles a wide variety of medical and neurological disorders including CVA, TIA, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, seizures, cerebral aneurysms, Parkinson's disease and subdural/intracerebral hemorrhages. VHC Health is certified as a Primary Stroke Center through the Joint Commission, with 8B being the designated Stroke Unit. All nurses are required to attain/maintain their NIH stroke certification with the opportunity to become part of the Code Stroke Team after a minimum of 1 year experience on the unit. Candidates could also be eligible for shift differential if they work evening, overnight and/or weekends. Shift differential varies from 10%-25% depending on the day and shift. Qualifications * RN Licensure with Reciprocity in the state of Virginia * BLS for the Healthcare Provider CPR * ACLS Certification * Med/Surg experience with emphasis on care of the patient with CVA and alteration in neurological function preferred, training offered for motivated New Graduate Nurses * NIHSS certification within 90 days of hire Responsibilities * Actively participates in working towards the organizational and departmental goals for providing exceptional patient experiences * Collaborates with patient and healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and/or evaluate patient's plan of care. * Assures quality of care by adhering to industry standards and measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and benchmarks. * Consistently assesses, identifies and addresses patient's educational needs and barriers to learning. * Maintains safe working environment and patient safety by complying with hospital policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. * Demonstrates knowledge and technical skills to perform all duties required to care for patients.
