Position Overview

The Lead Tech is a highly skilled Technician with a capable/experienced skill set of performing a full range of set-up, diagnostics, maintenance, and in-depth repairs of Outdoor Power/Lite Construction Equipment in a market at various SiteOne branches or customer jobsites. This position reports directly to the next level supervisor for their market/region.

KEY FACTORS FOR SUCCESS:

20% Communication:
  • Communicates clearly with teammates including managers, branch associates, line of business specialist, BDMs, ABMs, sales team members, and customers in both verbal and written communications. Uses active listening in understanding message content and points of view to fully comprehend the mechanical problems being reported. Provides expert knowledge to all associates/customers in the proper/safe operation of the equipment, maintenance requirements, repairs, and warranty policies. Supports Branches by explaining the equipment program and addressing any specific issues. Provides support throughout the ownership/rental period for customers and branch associates, which may include providing best-in-class delivery and service. Adheres to all safety requirements particular to equipment, company provided vehicles including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
50% Equipment Repairs:
  • Responsible for maintaining branch inventory prior to sale, Demo units, customer owned units, and a fleet of rental equipment. Diagnose, maintain, and repair all components of the machine, including gas (2/4 stroke) and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, fuel systems, and brake systems, etc. Through communication with leaders, equipment service desk, and branch teammates; responds to "Service Needed" request plus reviews rental Fleet Down Equipment Report and communicates with the stakeholders to prioritize repairs and other tasks. Liaisons with third party service providers, dealers or OEM contacts as required for technical support or additional labor resources. Obtains parts needed for repairs, while maintaining timely and accurate parts inventory. Utilizes company technology platform to document all work performed on equipment, including labor and parts. Performs tasks at store locations, company shop locations, and job sites. Performs other tasks assigned by leaders, maintains vehicle compliance to company, federal and drivers' standards of performance. Assists with equipment deliveries/pick-ups or transfers as required. Ability to be self-motivated, self-sufficient, lay out efficient schedules and key action items in a logical sequence along with recognizing pitfalls that may delay completion timelines.
30% Equipment Set-Up/Transport/Demos:
  • Maybe responsible for unloading equipment during delivery, uncrating, complete set-up/prep for delivery or display on branch sales floors. Deploys new equipment (inventory & rental) to branch locations and trains store associates and customers on the safe operation of the equipment. May transport machines to/from and help conduct onsite demonstrations to perspective customers as the equipment SME (subject matter expert).
Travel:
  • Travel will be required for this position
Skills We Are Seeking
  • High School or secondary diploma or equivalent required
  • 3 years of experience required
  • EETC, OPEESA, ASE or other Manufacturer/Technical Trade certifications are preferred or equivalent relevant years of experience in similar technical/mechanical roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to convey complex or technical ideas and processes in easy-to-understand terms to diverse audiences
  • Preferred Education Requirements: Technical or Trade School
  • Experience in repair and maintenance of gas/diesel engines, automotive or industrial equipment.
