Be at the epicenter of world class downhill mountain biking! Our rental store, the Mountain Adventure Center, is looking for a Bike Mechanic! Our Bike Mechanics are tasked with completing required and preventative maintenance on our full suspension rental bike fleet. The Bike Shop mechanic will be required to work unsupervised at times and should be able to demonstrate a track record of success in this type of roll, especially in the area of suspension/brake maintenance and repair. The mechanic will also be required to assist with the rental techs with public rental fitting as required.

POSITION SUMMARY
The primary task for the Mountain Adventure Center's Bike Mechanic is to complete required and preventative maintenance along with required record keeping on Mountain Adventure Center rental bike fleet. This position will be required to work a variety of day and evening shifts with the goal being to maximize the availability of rental fleet each day, while servicing guest's personal bikes and retail area as needed. The Bike Shop mechanic will be required to work unsupervised at times and should be able to demonstrate a track record of success in this type of roll, especially in the area of suspension/brake maintenance and repair. Some interaction with suppliers will be required for training, support and warranty issues. The mechanic will also be required to assist with the rental techs with public rental fitting as required. Consistently follows policies and procedures as defined in the Snowshoe Mountain Employee Handbook.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Previous experience working in a bike shop as a mechanic with an overall strong knowledge of all types of bikes required with emphasis on full suspension mountain bikes.
Previous experience specifically working with Rockshox, Fox, and Marzocchi suspensions required.
Previous experience building and repair. Specifically lacing, relacing, tensioning, truing and dishing of a bicycle wheel.
Knowledge of Snowshoe Bike Park trail system, Terrain Park, and summer programs desired.
Special Skills/Equipment:
Must be able to bleed a mountain bike hydraulic disc brake
Must be able to rebuild and service a mountain bike Suspension Fork and Shock
Must be able to build a bicycle wheel
Assist in supervision of fleet, product and safety of rental bikes, loss prevention and shop area.

DIRECT EXPERIENCE
Education: Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and must be at least 18 years of age or older.
Experience: Previous experience specifically working with Hayes, Avid, Shimano, Formula and Magura Hydraulic Disc Brakes.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
Any employee or volunteer who operates a company vehicle including cars, trucks, snowcats, snowmobiles, or heavy equipment is required to comply with the Driver’s Standards Policy. This policy also applies to employees or volunteers driving their personal vehicles for company business more than four times per month, averaging 30+ miles per trip. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Office Environment:
Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 20 pounds on an occasional basis.

Mountain Environment:
The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
