The Opportunity and What You'll Do

Ulteig is seeking qualified candidates for a Business Innovation Internship in our Technology Innovation department starting Summer 2023. The focus of the internship will be on analyzing the business impact of the incorporation of new technologies and innovative solutions into Ulteig's engineering services portfolio. The successful candidate can expect to gain business and technology analysis skills while developing communications acumen.

The Technology Innovation Department at Ulteig focuses on discovering and evaluating emerging technologies and innovative solutions that could substantially impact the services we offer our clients or the core business models of our clients themselves. We then determine how best to react to those trends, while keeping in mind the expressed needs of our business and clients through close coordination with our Client Solutions and Insights teams.

The Business Innovation Intern will help to analyze the impact that key emerging technologies or innovations may have on our business. Additionally, the Intern will assist in producing the cost/benefit analysis of individual technology and innovation opportunities for Ulteig. In parallel with this work, the Intern will also be expected to work with various groups at Ulteig to assess and develop suggested business models for technology or innovative solution deployments using lean innovation best practices.

Innovation, no matter how promising the underlying technology or concept, is dependent upon its deployment strategy to drive successful outcomes. This position will have a direct impact on this critical aspect of growth-accelerating innovation. The successful candidate can expect to apply their financial, technical, and business skills to achieve this work and grow in all of these areas over the duration of the internship.

The Business Innovation Intern will report to Ulteig's Technology Innovation Manager. Opportunities for site visits and trainings may be provided. An internship with Ulteig provides useful professional skills, practical application of coursework, and valuable workforce experience with a top consulting engineering firm.

What We Expect from You

  • Minimum of 2 years completed coursework towards earning a Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or Technology-related discipline is preferred.
  • Specific coursework related to engineering, entrepreneurship or innovation is preferred.
  • Strong interest in learning how to apply emerging technology to solve business challenges.
  • Proven facility in Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience building financial models is highly preferred.
  • Must be able to work in 2023 in one of the office locations listed; option to work during school year based on business needs.
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US.
