Job Overview
As a Universal Member Service Specialist (UMSS), you will be responsible for discovering and addressing our member-owners' needs while providing great service and straightforward financial solutions. This position's primary responsibilities include processing transactions, lending, account opening and maintenance, and opening savings & investment products.
Daily functions of this position:
- Performs all teller transactions and balances CDMs, TCRs, ATMs, and vault
- Opens new accounts, using credit union product knowledge to suggest products and services that will benefit the member
- Helps members evaluate their financial goals by providing guidance, credit reviews, and solutions we offer through Credit Union products and services
- Researches and resolves account issues efficiently, working with your team as necessary to meet the members' needs
- Makes outbound calls guidance calls to member owners
- Understands audit procedures and the importance of maintaining the integrity of audit guidelines
- Executes the MFC's plan to ensure achievement of goals and objectives, including but not limited to: member service scores, loan production, deposit production, new member growth, and partner lines of business referrals
Must have:
- Flexibility to assist members with various needs throughout the day and shift priorities as needed
- Willingness to learn, understand and implement all business processes within the credit union
- Superior coaching skills and ability to communicate well with diverse personalities
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Good arithmetic skills
- Basic computer skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent (College Degree preferred)
- A minimum of 3+ years related experience in the retail industry or financial services
Experience preferred, but training will be provided on:
- Standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations, and compliances within the financial services environment
- Advanced products and services offered by the credit union
- Service recovery concepts to enhance member satisfaction
- Basic concepts and principles of credit underwriting
- Notary status within 3 months of hire
- Branch lending

Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, and bending required
- Must be able to sit at a desk for moderate periods of time and use a computer
- Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds
