Day (United States of America)Reporting to the Director of Radiology Informatics, is responsible for the administration of all aspects of the PACS and its ancillary systems. The PACS Administrator provides user support, service, maintenance and QA/QC for all Radiology and clinical departments throughout the enterprise. Other duties include hardware & application troubleshooting, repair and integration support for Radiology Informatics Systems. This position requires a weekday M-F work schedule, on-call rotation and occasional weekend work.Job Description:
Job Summary: Provides daily management of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) within the spectrum of information technology infrastructure management including capacity, performance, incident, problem, change, release, configuration, availability, and security management. Evaluates, monitors and reports key operational parameters. Assists in planning for the future development of the PACS system and the PACS user work environment. Works closely with the Radiology Informatics PACS Director, PACS/RIS Team, Medical Chief of Radiology Informatics, and the Hospital Information Systems Department.
Essential Responsibilities:
Monitors key operation parameters and proactively addresses problems by enlisting the support of vendors or IS Department technical experts. Monitors system resources and predicts capacity issues and reports system status on a regular basis.
Assists the Informatics/PACS Director in all phases of planning and deployment of PACS. Provides on call support, on rotational basis to multiple facilities or provides on call assistance as needed.
Develops and maintains an accurate inventory of equipment including in-depth diagrams of system workflow. Conducts on-going review of PACS configurations and options. Provides BIDMC with release notes of suggested add-ons or upgrades to improve service. Participates in after hour system upgrades.
Works with Informatics/PACS Manager to develop, maintain, and test disaster recovery plan. Trains other BIDMC PACS personnel in setup specific to the site. Assists Informatics/PACS Manager in development/maintenance of procedures, manuals, how-to, and other PACS training materials for the department.
Works in conjunction with Informatics/PACS Director and IS department to ensure optimal transmission of data through the Hospital network. Performs and logs preventive maintenance of all PACS related equipment. Creates ad-hoc reports as requested.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in a Business, Organizational Development, Informatics, or Technology related field preferred.
3-5 years related work experience required in Radiology PACS workflow..
Possesses a strong understanding of healthcare imaging workflow, imaging application integration, HL7 messaging, DICOM standard workflow and fundamental networking concepts.
Experience in process redesign/ workflow analysis, policy and procedure development, training, testing or education.
Experience with an integrated multi-system (Voice Recognition, 3D imaging, CAD, etc.) PACS environment.
Advanced technical computer skills as required for technical support specific to functional area and related systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
McKesson PACS experience.
RIS (Radiology Information System), Voice Recognition (MModal) software and hardware experience.
Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP).

Physical Nature of the Job:
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus
