Experience: Minimum 3 years DOT Safety experience

Compensation : $80,000-$100,000 annually DOE

Position Overview:

The Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and ensuring that the health and safety of our employees are a top priority. The Safety Manager must anticipate, identify, and correct issues involving safety and work with all employees to implement procedures that will prevent accidents and injuries. The Safety Manager will cover Coach USA Northern California and reports directly to the General Manager with support available from the Regional Safety Director.

 Essential Functions:

  • Protect the health and safety of employees and decrease the potential risk of disease, illness, injury, and exposure to harmful substances
  • Provide leadership and coaching to reduce preventable accidents and inspire drivers
  • Minimize the potential for penalties assessed by various enforcement agencies by maintaining compliance with Federal and State regulations
  • Ensure all corporate safety programs and policies are implemented and followed
  • Ensure OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) compliance
  • Manage all Safety files and keeping up to date requirements needed
  • Lead BTW & classroom training schedules to maintain a pool of skilled drivers
  • Conduct all accident investigations
  • Conduct and provide discipline when required
  • Conduct all training and safety meetings
  • Review driver Hours of Service and DOT log violations
  • Conduct Monthly Facility Inspections 
Required Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Safety rules and Federal and State regulations for facilities and drivers
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret standard scientific, technical journals and legal documents that pertain to the management of chemicals, hazardous waste, and agency regulations
  • Improve efficiency of training programs
  • Reduce workers’ compensation claims and costs
  • Ensure all corporate safety programs and policies are implemented and followed
  • Implement training and inspection requirement for other enforcing agencies and/or certifying entities aligned with the safety program
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs

  • Must be highly organized in order to juggle multiple drivers, meet deadlines, and follow proper reporting guidelines
  • Prioritize tasks in a fast-paced work environment
Desired Qualifications:

OSHA 30 Hour Class
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) “B” with a “P” endorsement plus any other Endorsement needed to accomplish training of drivers
