What We Need:

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to join our HBF team in Hickory, NC! 

Responsible for the development and improvement of the internal quality system and processes. Designs, implements, and manages quality control processes and sampling systems, procedures and statistical techniques to drive focused corrective actions.  Performs a variety of quality engineering assignments involving the development and implementation of effective process control systems, including measurement systems and quality metrics. Facilitates data-driven, problem solving activities within all levels of the business. Provides manufacturing support by working on quality issues closely with manufacturing, product engineering, production operators, suppliers, and maintenance.

What You Will Do:

  • Develops and maintains effective process control and quality control plan and procedures, quality specifications, testing procedures, measurements, and data collection systems.
  • Analyzes production limitations and standards. Recommends revision of specifications when indicated.
  • Facilitates and performs root cause analysis, develops effective corrective actions and corrective action verification plans. 
  • Develops and maintains detailed problem-solving documentation, reports and graphs.
  • Initiate and drive process improvements with regards to PPAP production issues
  • Improves First Time Yield with customer-driven quality specifications and verifies root cause and corrective actions using Problem A3 process to drive change.
  • Maintains and analyzes SR’s and customer-driven data to help identify, track and improve customer quality complaints.
  • Leads problem-solving efforts using classical structured problem-solving methodologies (i.e. Six Sigma, Statistical Engineering, 5 Why’s, Fishbone diagrams) to investigate and solve complex related quality problems.

What You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality or related field preferred.
  • 2 – 4 years of experience and success in quality control development to improve performance.
  • 2 years of experience working in a lean manufacturing environment focused on customer satisfaction and eliminating chronic internal and external quality problems.
  • Minimum of 2 years extensive experience in facilitating the application of lean manufacturing principles and techniques (i.e. value stream mapping, 6S and standard work).

What You’re Good At:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and handle multiple quality problems from products and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints, specifications and complex assemblies.
  • Experience in writing specifications, including identification of critical to quality components and dimensions.
