Position Responsibilities

The Sr. Manager, DevOps will develop and lead a global team of DevOps engineers responsible for developing and maintaining complex build routines, ensuring availability of product builds, troubleshooting build failures, automating common routines, packaging and distribution of product fixes for On-premise and Cloud distribution. You must have extensive hands-on experience with software development lifecycle and a solid understanding of Operations, CI/CD, security, infrastructure, including public and private clouds. Your ability to understand the strategic vision of Deltek's CI/CD strategy and implement it will be key to success in this role.

You will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of a NextGen build platform using industry standards and best practices for a large, complex ERP software on the J2EE framework. Your knowledge and expertise of J2EE technologies and build systems will require you to architect the overall design, recommend options for tooling, tools for scripting etc. to implement a highly performant, scalable and stable build infrastructure platform resulting in optimal deployment of java products across global infrastructure in the data center and Cloud.

  • Lead a team of DevOps engineers to design, implement, operate, and support product build and release pipelines for a large, complex ERP system.
  • Assist with the development & enhancement of existing CI/CD solutions and optimize the performance of product builds & deployments across global, hybrid production and non-production enviornments.
  • Assist the DevOps team with effective use of Jenkins as an orchestration tool - operate, organize and optimize the current Jenkins implementation.
  • Lead initiatives to evaluate and prototype new DevOps tools to modernize DevSecOps practices across the complete service delivery pipeline.
  • Automate & continually evolve the software development build, deployment and release processes in order to achieve full Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) objectives.
  • Participate in the technical design in the improvement of commercial packaging of software artifacts ensuring high quality and timely delivery.
  • Automate the installation and configuration of Weblogic CPU and JDK updates to internal Development and QE environments as well as Cloud production environments using tools such as Ansible.
  • Develop and document key operational processes for maintain and monitoring new implementation of NextGen build platform, including, but not limited to, process documentation, support documentation, 3rd party maintenance, DR plan
  • Strong working knowledge in cloud architectures across various types (private, public, hybrid and community), layers (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP

Qualifications

  • BS in Computer Science or related area of study
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, lead, train and mentor a team of DevOps engineers located across the globe
  • Solid proven experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting large enterprise-wide applications including implementation of full CI/CD solutions in Public and Private Cloud environments.
  • 8+ years in a senior technical DevOps role with experience in Java/J2EE ERP systems
  • 6+ years' experience developing distributed applications on Oracle Weblogic middleware, Oracle and / or SQL Server RDBMS platforms.
  • Extensive working experience building enterprise software applications using tools such as Apache ANT, Maven, Gradle, Bamboo, or other enterprise build tools.
  • Extensive working experience using orchestration tools such as Jenkins to automate product builds and CI/CD.
  • Extensive experience in software infrastructure provisioning & configuration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef or Puppet
  • Experience with version control tools such as git, github & binary repository tools such as JFrog Artifactory or Sonatype Nexus, or similar enterprise solutions.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and frequent release cycles, software configuration management practices, and build and release management methodologies
  • Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Strong written, verbal, critical thinking skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
