Position Information
Under the direction of the Deputy Financial Administrative Officer, the Contracts and Grants Analyst provides complex pre-award and post-award research administration support to assigned Principal Investigators (PI's) in the School of Education (SOE). As an integral member of the SOE Research Administration Team, the Contracts and Grants Analyst independently partners with PI's in pre-award management, including but not limited to, developing proposal budgets, packaging proposal materials for submission, and completing electronic proposal review and approval. The incumbent is responsible for all post-award management, including but not limited to, facilitating award setup, ongoing fund management with PI's, financial reporting, and award close-out. The incumbent also works with the SOE Director of Development on proposals submitted to private foundations in accordance with all agency and UC/UCR policies and guidelines. The incumbent provides strategic and high-level financial analysis, budget management, financial reporting, and guidance on payroll/personnel and procurement matters as it relates to managing funds. The incumbent must be strong in financial management and remain up-to-date with all UCR, UC and sponsor policies, procedures, and guidelines to successfully partner with PI's in administering contracts and grants.
The full salary range for the Contracts and Grants Analyst is $61,800 - $110,000 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.
Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
