Job Title: Full-Time Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)
Location: Spanaway, WA
Employment Type: Full-Time, Temporary (23/24 School Year)
Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and qualified Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our team for the 23/24 school year. As an SLPA, you will be responsible for providing direct support to our Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) in delivering speech and language services to students in the Spanaway, WA area. This is a full-time, temporary position, allowing you to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and contribute to their educational success.
Responsibilities:
- Assist SLPs in implementing individualized therapy plans, as outlined by the IEP (Individualized Education Program), to address speech and language goals of students.
- Provide one-on-one or small group therapy sessions, under the supervision of an SLP, to facilitate language development, articulation skills, and communication abilities.
- Collaborate with SLPs, teachers, and other members of the educational team to develop and implement appropriate strategies for students with speech and language needs.
- Monitor and track student progress, documenting observations and maintaining accurate records of therapy sessions.
- Support students in the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices and assistive technology, as required.
- Encourage and foster communication skills in social settings through structured activities and interventions.
- Participate in team meetings, parent conferences, and IEP meetings to provide input on student progress and contribute to goal-setting processes.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of an Associate's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field.
- Certification as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) from an accredited program.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as an SLPA in the state of Washington.
- Strong knowledge of speech and language disorders, therapy techniques, and best practices in intervention.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
- Ability to work independently, follow directions, and implement therapy plans under the supervision of an SLP.
- Experience working with children in an educational or clinical setting is preferred.
