General Information
The JMU School of Professional & Continuing Education (SPCE) advances JMU's vision by responding to individual, business, and community needs through transformative educational programs and experiences. SPCE programming includes the Adult Degree Program, Lifelong Learning Institute, Youth Programs, and Professional Development programs, as well as a range of partnerships with academic units and colleges across JMU. We are currently seeking a Director of Professional Development to lead our program development efforts in both credit and non-credit programs that directly respond to the needs of the business and professional community. These programs are offered through a range of modalities and types of partnerships, and we are looking for an individual with excellent skills in identifying and meeting educational needs across a range of content areas as JMU responds to a changing economy, workforce needs, and emerging technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Provide leadership for the planning, development, implementation, directing and evaluation of new high quality revenue generating programs and classes that directly respond to the needs of the business and professional community.
-Work closely with a variety of community, business, and organizational stakeholders to determine and evaluate their needs for professional development and other programs; create and design programs to meet those needs, working closely with appropriate JMU faculty and departments when needed, or seeking external partnerships when needed.
-Manage existing third-party contracts in partnership with Procurement, including evaluations and strategic planning to determine future directions for each of those partnerships, managing RFP processes, and sound vendor management practices.
-Work collaboratively with PCE's marketing coordinator, Salesforce administrator, recruiting staff members, University Marketing, JMU IT and others in developing marketing strategies, plans for existing and new programs and classes and decisions regarding catalog content, advertising and marketing.
-Master's degree, preferably in business, adult education, public administration, or related field.
-Significant professional experience in a related field.
-Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing, and present one's self in a professional manner at all times, including developing partnerships in the community.
-Exceptionally strong organizational, planning and management skills, including a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, implement, market and evaluate a comprehensive portfolio of self-sustaining continuing education and professional development programs.
-Experience working with adult learners, instructional design, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders.
-Commitment to diversity, equity, access, and inclusion in the development of partnerships, programs, and participants.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
