Purpose

Responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen, dining area, and dish room areas of a large-scale commercial food service operation.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all food service sanitation practices, policies, and procedures are followed. Assist with the processing of dishware, sorting silverware, scraping, and stacking dishes. Clean dining area, kitchen, bathrooms, trash cans, and remove trash from the building and/or operate commercial cleaning equipment and/or dish machine.

  • Assist in providing oversight and direction to the activities of building attendants/dish room attendants as assigned by the supervisor and/or leader. Respond and follow through with written and oral University and UHD policies.

  • Ensure the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks. Ensure proper sanitation and safety techniques while maintaining an exceptional level of productivity in the area. Oversee the use of chemicals, equipment, and sanitation as well as proper maintenance and storage. Monitor proper inventory levels of chemicals and supplies.

  • Maintain chemical room according to proper standard procedures; maintain closet for mops and brooms. Clean floor surfaces, including sweeping, mopping, spotting, wet extraction, stripping, and waxing, etc. Remove trash periodically throughout shift, clean and line trash cans for the next shift.

  • Assist in the inspection of the building for sanitary, fire safety, and maintenance needs. Report emergencies as well as needed repairs for buildings or equipment.

Required Qualifications
  • Six months of commercial cleaning experience.

  • Six months of experience working with commercial cleaning equipment such as commercial dish machines, carpet care, or floor care equipment.

  • Ability to complete and maintain University Housing and Dining Food SafetyTraining and/or ServSafethroughout employment.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • One year or more of commercial cleaning experience.

  • One year or more of experience working with commercial cleaning equipment such as commercial dish machines, carpet care, or floor care equipment.

  • Experience working in a large dining service operation.

  • Ability to multi-task and work with little supervision.

  • Professional demeanor and ability to work with a diverse staff and customer base.

Salary Range

$37,440 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions
