Job Description

Job Title: Head of Operational Excellence

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA

About the role:

As Head of Operational Excellence (AGILE Lead), you will play an important leadership role in promoting the culture of Continuous Improvement. You will ensure the site strategy is aligned with OpU strategy and is executed to global standards. You will ensure CI principles are built into the site master plan, maximizing product flow and value-added activity across the site. The AGILE program supports site initiatives, the development of a continuous improvement culture, and shares best practices within the Takeda network and seeks to adopt network best practices. This is an on site position that reports to the Head of Business Excellence.

How you will contribute:
  • Lead the AGILE team (formerly operational excellence team).

  • Own the AGILE program for the Thousand Oaks, CA site and organize key initiatives across its workstreams (Operational Excellence, Lab Excellence, Digital, End-to-End Supply Chain, Site/Network Development, and People, Culture, and Change).

  • Lead the site in execution of problem solving and lean waste reduction by driving hands-on activities.

  • Lead the nomination, training, mentoring, and certification of Lean and Six Sigma Green Belts and Black Belts and aligning projects to site strategy and key results.

  • Lead a data-driven culture that utilizes digital platforms to build predictability into business processed.

  • Ensure rigor in project execution, phase requirements and timing to ensure DMAIC methodology is deployed with appropriate rigor and effectiveness.

  • DMAIC training and team facilitation.

  • Present at company-wide sessions on projects.

What you bring to Takeda:
  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or another related technical field.

  • 10+ years of related experience with 3+ in a management role.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • In general, you will do a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.

  • Lift, push, pull and carry up to 25 lbs.

  • May work in a controlled environment requiring special gowning and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. This may include additional hearing protection for loud areas.

  • Will need to remove all make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish and artificial fingernails while in the manufacturing environment.

  • May work in a cold, hot or wet environment.

  • May work around chemicals such as alcohol, acids, buffers and Celite that may require respiratory protection.

  • Able to work more than 8 hours a day or 40 hours a workweek.

Base Salary Range: $143,500 to $205,000. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and Paid Volunteer Time Off.   

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors, including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
