Jack in the Box Inc. is seeking a DevOps Lead who will be responsible for the development of CI/CD best practices and will provide guidance and leadership to teams on ways of optimizing their processes. Also responsible for identifying and developing improvements to other aspects of the developer operations lifecycle. While this role will be hands-on with overall code contribution, the primary focus of this role is on optimizing DevOps best practices and looking at the big picture of how to improve them.


KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in the development of the DevOps strategy. Set direction of process, support and systems to execute the strategy


Deploy complex and critical infrastructure; lead the operation and support of Cloud team products and legacy applications. Build, test, deploy and ensure the successful operations of platforms


Configure, manage and troubleshoot various operational systems such as our CI/CD platform, testing tools, code management systems and other areas related to helping development teams operate efficiently

Lead and influence the implementation of standardized offerings to drive the successful deployment of stacks and ensure the operational health throughout the lifecycle leveraging:

Continuous build, test, integration and deployment platforms and pipelines

Repositories & registries for build/deployment artifacts

Automated testing frameworks for applications and infrastructure

Automated processes for upgrades and patching (e.g. blue/green)

Event management and routing

Inventory, capacity and billing/tag management


Evaluate, standardize and provide operational governance with tools, processes and frameworks that drive efficiency in automation, monitoring and management of large scale environments.


Evaluate and utilize instrumentation and metrics to improve operational processes and availability; continuously manage, monitor, and evaluate performance; manage metrics and log collection, aggregation, correlation and visualization of data. Analyze and identify data trends to drive efficiency. Propose and run cost modeling to optimize cost across the organization.


Collaborate with engineering and product teams to design and implement solutions that support DevOps vision and strategy.


Lead implementation of standard practices that ensure operational excellence; drive best practices and high standards of delivery.


Assist product owners, solution architects, and application architects in designing scalable, highly available, secure, cost-effective solutions that leverage cloud services.


Provide technical coaching and mentoring to accelerate DevOps learning and adoption across the organization.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or engineering related field or equivalent work experience. One or more of the following AWS certifications is highly desirable: AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Engineer Associate and AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate.

Experience: – 5+ year of experience working with AWS Cloud based solutions. Experience with technical writing and configuration management.


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining AWS infrastructure in support of third-party integration software such as Dell Boomi or equivalent experience.

Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies and workload transition challenges.

Knowledge of AWS and other well architected frameworks and cloud migration industry standards and best practices.

Technical writing skills for documenting environments and procedures.

Experience with CI/CD platforms using declarative configuration such as CircleCI, Jenkins, Gitlab, Etc.

Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as: Chef, Jenkins, Puppet and Ansible is a plus.

Experience with test-driven development frameworks for application and infrastructure code.

Experience with continuous integration and deployment technologies.

Experience with infrastructure-as-code.

Experience with orchestration template technologies.

Extensive experience with tooling to support monitoring, telemetry, logging, reporting/dashboarding and continuous delivery technologies.

Demonstrated ability in developing and maintaining business continuity and disaster recovery processes.

Understanding of automation practices throughout the build, test and deployment phases and infrastructure automation through DevOps scripting (E.g. shell, Python, Yaml).

Hands on technology infrastructure, network, compute, storage, and virtualization experience with a Cloud focus.

Experience driving discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management and risk mitigation.

Innovative and ability to think outside the box for creative problem solving.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.

Strong interpersonal skills with ability to provide outstanding customer relationship management.

The range for this position is $136,100- $189,500 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides
