The Utility Worker II – Solids Handling Facility (SHF) will operate and perform routine maintenance on the Authority’s solids, refuse and transport vehicles.  In addition, the Utility Worker II – SHF will assist the Solids Handling Foreman with the operation and maintenance of the department, which includes refuse removal or general labor depending on location of assignment. 

 

  1. Responsible for housekeeping and routine maintenance of SHF equipment.
  2.  
  3. Must be proficient in the operation of SHF equipment, such as: operation of Authority fork lift equipment, rotary screen and associated equipment.
  4.  
  5. If assigned to driving duties, responsible to ensure that solids handling and vehicles are operated and maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition by reporting deficiencies to the appropriate personnel. Completion of daily operator check sheets, pre-trip and after-trip safety checks and operator-level maintenance to include general upkeep and cleanliness of vehicles and other equipment operated.

  7. Assist in the transport and disposal of solids, liquids and fertilizer materials generated by Authority facilities as per divisional needs.

 

  1. Assist the Solids Handling Foreman with operating the SHF and fill in for the Solids Equipment Operator when needed.

 

  1. If assigned to truck driving duties, fill in for the Utility Worker II/III – Fertilizer Manufacturing Division, as needed.

 

  1. Assist the Solids Handling Foreman in the maintenance of the anaerobic digester, digester gas system and associated equipment.

 

  1. May be required to maintain logbooks of daily activities.

  3. Work independently and carry out assignments given by his/her supervisor.

 

  1. Adhere to federal, State and local transportation regulations.

 

  1. Required to perform tasks using a self-contained breathing apparatus or respirator.

 

  1. Perform work in a safe and efficient manner.
  2.  
  3. Be available for emergencies on a 24-hour basis.
  4.  
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.
