Join Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) and Sentara Healthcare in making a significant impact in the field of neurology at the Lawrence J. Goldrich Institute for Integrated Neuro-Health. This full-time, outpatient-only position within the Sentara Medical Group (SMG) Division of Neurology is for a Fellowship-Trained Movement Disorders Neurologist. Candidates will obtain an EVMS faculty appointment in the Department of Neurology, providing an opportunity for academic growth.
This unique position will harness the existing infrastructure of Sentara Medical Groups Comprehensive Movement Disorders Program to establish a Movement Disorders practice within the newly established Lawrence J. Goldrich Institute for Integrated Neuro-Health, complementing the existing EVMS Memory Disorders program and outpatient Palliative Care service. The primary role will be providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients. Additional teaching or research opportunities are also available.
This exciting joint opportunity offers the best of both worlds by combining a private practice model with an academic position. The successful candidate will be employed by SMG and receive SMG physician compensation and benefits. Additionally, the candidate will be jointly appointed to EVMS as faculty with a rank commensurate with experience.
Sentara Healthcare is an award-winning, non-profit organization that is committed to providing high-quality, patient-centered care to the communities it serves. The Division of Neurology within SMG is the largest neurology practice in the area and includes a team of dedicated neurohospitalists as well as fellowship-trained sub-specialists in Stroke, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Neuromuscular, Cognitive Neurology, and Multiple Sclerosis. This position will be based on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General hospital and EVMS at the new, state of the art, Goldrich Institute.
This position is outpatient-only with no night or weekend call. This position provides an opportunity to support the existing SMG program that includes comprehensive clinics for Parkinsons and Huntingtons disease patients, as well as a busy Botox clinic for dystonia. Through partnership with functional Neurosurgery, there is as active Deep Brain Stimulation and Focus Ultrasound program. Additionally, there is ample opportunity to be involved in an active clinical trial program.
