QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
- A.A. or A.S. degree from an accredited institution;
- Minimum of five (3) years of experience in a Communications Officers' role;
- Valid certifications in Florida Crime Information Center (FCIC) and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Certified by the Department oh Health as a Telecommunicator by Florida State Statute 401.465 and by the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
- Ability to communicate with employees at all levels;
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to work with diverse populations;
- Ability to be well organized and demonstrate effective time management, flexibility and creativity;
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include:
- Instructing and evaluating theoretical knowledge, psychomotor skills and effective competencies in the 911 Telecommunications program;
- Demonstrating knowledge and skills utilizing an instructional internet platform;
- Demonstrating oral and written communication and teamwork;
- Demonstrate the ability to recognize and respond to the individual differences of student population and a willingness to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process;
- Flexibility for teaching day and/or evening classes.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborating with faculty and staff in the IRSC programs in Public Service Education Division and with other IRSC program areas;
- Effectively instructing courses in 911 Telecommunications;
- Evaluating student progress through examinations and observations of performance;
- Actively supporting student success through individual counseling and advising;
- Maintaining appropriate documentation of related student records;
- Maintaining course related equipment and supplies;
- Participating in department, division, and general faculty meetings;
- Maintaining own professional development related to individual, professional, and institutional needs;
- Adhering to all IRSC policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up and stoop. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
