Cayuga Health seeks a Residency Program Director for the Internal Medicine Program in picturesque Ithaca, New York.

Candidate must have at least 3 years previous experience as an AOA program director. The director will provide educational experiences enabling resident physicians to obtain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to practice independently and competently.

The Director will develop, modify as necessary, and conduct the residency program in accordance with the program requirements of its Residency Review Committee in order to ensure the highest quality education and to maintain continuing full program accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.


  • Must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine
  • Must have a minimum of three years of educational and/or administrative experience in an ACGME accredited Internal Medicine Program as a member of the faculty or leadership team.
  • Must have previous leadership/administrative experience
  • Must be willing to combine administrative and clinical teaching responsibilities (50/50)
  • Must have strong administrative and team building skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills


  • Authority and accountability for the operation of the Internal Medicine residency program
  • Development of curriculum, policies, and procedures for the program
  • Obtaining and maintaining ACGME accreditation and state approval
  • Providing leadership and professional development for program faculty
  • Recruitment of residents into the program
  • Participate in competency evaluations of residents
  • Initiation and monitoring of any resident remediation processes
  • Oversite of the program evaluation committee and program improvements
  • Participate in faculty recruitment and retention
  • Additional responsibilities to ensure program of excellence
  • Maintenance of an effect resident mentoring program
  • Oversite and delivery of resident wellness initiatives
