Position Information
UCR ARTS is comprised of the California Museum of Photography, the Sweeney Art Gallery, and the Barbara and Art Culver Center of the Arts. Located on a single block in adjacent historical buildings in downtown Riverside, UCR ARTS' mission is to provide a cultural presence, educational resource, community center and intellectual meeting ground for the university and the community. Reporting to the Exhibitions Manager, the Senior Preparator is responsible for all aspects of preparation and production of exhibitions. The position will work closely with the UCR ARTS Directors and Curators to prepare physical and conceptual designs for contemporary and historical art and interactive exhibitions.
The full salary range for the Senior Museum Preparator is $20.35 - $23.93 per hour. However, the expected pay scale for this position is $20.35 - $22.91 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is ten weeks after their first date of employment.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines with close attention to detail.
Knowledge/practice of conservation techniques and use of materials in preparation and care of works on paper and photographic materials (matting/framing).
Knowledge/practice of audio, video, and other technological installations.
Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills applicable to a deadline oriented, creative, and academic atmosphere.
Knowledge/practice in packing/shipping/receiving and care of a variety of fine arts objects and materials.
Ability to move objects weighing 40lbs.
Proven record of efficient independent performance in supervising and installing fine art exhibits under strict time lines taking responsibility for results.
