This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite on Campus and remote.
The Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Science is dedicated to creating and promoting public health innovations to advance equity, justice, and wellbeing for all and has more than 80 primary salaried faculty, 20 secondary faculty, 250+ personnel, 225 postgraduate students, and over 650 undergraduate majors. The School includes activities in the public health disciplines of biostatistics and bioinformatics, epidemiology, global health, health policy, health behavior, health equity, public mental health, environmental and climate health, and preventive medicine.
The School has strong collaborative research programs facilitated by Research Centers of Excellence focused on wireless and population health systems, health promotion and equity, women's health, and tobacco control, and has extensive collaborations with the School of Medicine, Jacobs School of Engineering, the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, Moores Cancer Center, Design Lab, Qualcomm Institute, ACTRI, HDSI, Skaggs School of Pharmacy, and with other partners across the UC San Diego campus. Partnerships with the community and health agencies are fundamental to the School.
The School houses five recharge cores providing services to UC San Diego and external customers. Research in the School includes ~$125M total awarded grants and contracts. The School has and administers two PhD programs (public health and biostatistics), a Master of Public Health professional degree program, a MS in Biostatistics, the only Health Sciences undergraduate program (BSPH), a Master of Applied Science in Leadership of Healthcare Organizations run in conjunction with UC San Diego Extension, and a Preventive Medicine Residency program.
Provides program recommendations to the Program Director and faculty on how to best serve the MPH students. This includes the creation of advising policies and procedures that are in alignment with Health Sciences, the Herbert Wertheim School of Public Health and Human Longevity Sciences, and UC San Diego Campus's directives and mission. Incumbent is responsible for all aspects of MPH Program advising, and applies in-depth program expertise on complex program requirements as the main contact person for learners, which may include prospective health professions education program students, current health professions education learners, and all other stakeholders. Incumbent answers questions and distributes program information, resolves ad hoc issues relative to program learners, and advises learners on planning, starting, and completing their studies.
Incumbent communicates learning opportunities and curriculum requirements to graduate students, and advises and counsels them on all academic affairs matters. Incumbent also meets with students at various stages throughout their career to review progress, and provides information on program requirements, including completion of course work, practicum, and thesis or capstone project. Incumbent leads development and implementation of all programmatic activities, including program competencies, curriculum, and program events. Incumbent will be responsible for advising, event planning and coordination, teaching assistant support, communications and marketing project management.
Incumbent is responsible for interfacing with other campus departments such as the UCSD registrar, Student Financial Solutions, and the Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs (GEPA) to schedule courses, apply student fellowships, submit student documents for graduation, etc. Incumbent is also responsible for coordinating the MPH admissions process including interacting with potential applicants and working with the admissions committee. Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three (3) years of related experience/training.
Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Solid knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Thorough knowledge of health professions education industry.
Thorough knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems. Thorough knowledge of the administrative and operational implications in a program.
Demonstrated experience and documented excellence in oral and written communications skills; includes active listening and critical thinking.
Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues.
Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. Ability to complete work and meet established deadlines in an accurate and timely manner, and to manage short and competing deadlines.
Thorough knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.
Thorough knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program. Skills include statistical analysis of data across databases and systems.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,600 - $111,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.67 - $53.45
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
