Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Location: Abbeville, South Carolina

Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate special education teacher to join our team in Abbeville, South Carolina. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work with students who have diverse learning needs, providing individualized instruction and support to help them succeed academically and reach their full potential. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of special education practices, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to making a positive impact on students' lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
  • Assess students' abilities and design appropriate instructional strategies to address their unique learning requirements
  • Teach various subjects and skills, tailoring instruction to meet each student's needs
  • Adapt instructional materials and utilize specialized teaching techniques to accommodate different learning styles and abilities
  • Monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods as necessary
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Provide accommodations and support during assessments and examinations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance, attendance, and behavior
  • Stay updated on the latest research, techniques, and best practices in special education through professional development opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education in the state of South Carolina
  • Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and disabilities
  • Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs
