SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Director of Learning, the Manager, Learning will lead implementation of all activities of the department including ongoing and new learning opportunities. With the ability to channel their creativity and passion for learning, they will have the unique opportunity to develop, promote and foster an equitable learning environment that emphasizes personal and professional growth.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees the day-to-day activities of the Learning Department including the New Employee Orientation, People Leader Orientation, People Leader Academy, the weekly Learning Department Digest, and People Concern University, including content review, creation, and revision, evaluation, facilitator recruitment and support, and attendee management.
- Ensures completion of all mandatory courses by all staff.
- Fosters a culture of learning by championing Learning Department initiatives and collaborating across-agency in order to improve the onboarding process, agency culture, professional development and learning opportunities across departments and disciplines.
- Applies a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens to all department activities and facilitates access to learning for all employees.
- Maintains and helps produce records, reports, instructional manuals, reference materials, etc., pertinent to learning opportunities.
- Oversees logistics for e-learning/training activities and in-person events including venue procurement, transportation of supplies and equipment, set up/break down of training spaces.
- Other duties as assigned and needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and the ability to identify ways to incorporate a DEI lens in learning activities.
- Self-motivated and able to successfully work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work independently and effectively with a wide range of people, teams and vendors.
- Ability to think critically about problems and be creative in finding solutions.
- Strong communication skills, including written and oral.
- Advanced organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Detail oriented with excellent time management and communication skills.
- Strong Computer skills, including Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Demonstrates an ability to use new technology to enhance the employee learning experience.
- Ability to operate media equipment such as projectors and personal computers.
- Valid CA Driver's license, reliable car, auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Client-serving experience preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Primarily indoor office environment
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend and occasionally lift or carry up to 15 pounds
- May necessitate working in busy and loud environments
- May be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise, and odor
- May need to bend, stoop, twist, and sit throughout the day
