This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Lightwave and remote.
Under supervision, this position is responsible for the coordination of surgery scheduling and surgery-related issues. Schedules outpatient clinic appointments, related tests, procedures and pre- and post-op appointments. Confirms referrals, authorizations are appropriate for the level of scheduled services. Functions as liaison for patients, physicians, hospitals, and other departments regarding scheduling, authorization and patient surgery preparation. Provides support for DME ordering and coordination of services. Determines patient problems and inform appropriate individuals of solutions and/or make recommendations as appropriate. With the approval of the Clinic Manager, the Surgery Coordinator initiates and participates in improvement efforts which directly impact the practice. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS- Three (3) years of relevant experience, including a minimum of one (1) year scheduling experience and one (1) year of experience with the Treatment Authorization Process for a variety of health plans.
- Experience processing Disability paperwork including EDD filing and FMLA
- Proven experience and ability to work with electronic medical records and appointment scheduling.
- Demonstrated understanding of CPT and ICD-9 codes.
- Ability to articulate physician's areas of expertise.
- Experience processing authorizations, referrals, and with financial oversight; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of third-party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.
- Excellent communication skills and good customer service.
- Experience with EPIC system.
- Previous surgery scheduling experience, preferably OB/GYN.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
- Prior experience in an academic medical center.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $53,077 - $65,960 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.42 - $31.59
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
