Job Description

The minimum qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:

  • Master's degree - Music Education
  • Knowledge of general music education subject matter
  • Competent Piano accompaniment skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to understand and work with students from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Willingness to create active partnerships with students in the teaching/learning process.
  • Appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching first and second year music education courses
  • Teaching Humanities music courses
  • Work collaboratively with the faculty in the Performing and Visual Arts department
  • Availability to teach assigned courses during the academic workday.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching Music Theory courses (Levels I - IV)
  • Teaching Music Sight-singing courses (first and second year)
  • Teaching Class Piano courses (first and second year)
  • Teaching Music Appreciation Courses
  • Teaching applied instrument lessons
