General Information
Primary focus of this role is to develop, guide, plan, oversee and facilitate events for the College of Business and other university constituents, overseeing all details from conception to execution. The position's role is mission critical in supporting engaged learning, fostering a strong sense of community and connection within the college and maintaining lasting relationships with alumni. The position collaborates with various departments, student organizations, and alumni networks to deliver events that leave a positive impact.

Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, implement and manage multiple high-profile events for internal and external constituents. Among internal key events are Opening Day Welcome, Student Org Night, COB Town Halls, Board of Advisor meetings, Homecoming Tailgate, CHOICES, Rainey-Shepard Business Plan Competition, and Student Awards Ceremony (among others). External key events have included SCHEV Presidents' Council, ROCCO Forum, Valley Scholars events, etc.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work with Apple computer and Microsoft Office operating systems and a variety of software packages, including Word and Excel.
- Broad knowledge of event menu planning and event decor.
- Strong project management skills including the ability to set priorities, adequately manage simultaneous projects and complete tasks on time.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple projects concurrently, both independently and collaboratively as a value team member.
- Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings, occasional travel required.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

Additional Considerations:
- Strong knowledge of and experience in events planning and implementation, especially within an academic or business setting.
- Knowledge of Cascade and JMU website design and management and the ability to prepare effective and attractive Web pages.
- Knowledge of JMU's PeopleSoft system, Finance, AiM and eVa.
- Experience with graphic design software (Adobe products preferred such as InDesign, Acrobat and other).

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
