JOB SUMMARY:
The Capacity Representative will be responsible for any uncovered freight, project moves and new start-up business. This person is flexible and experienced in multi-modes and equipment types. The individual is expected to communicate with the Carrier Manager, upon covering the freight assigned to them, to understand how they may help with lane research and/or business development. This person must possess a high level of motivation and significant carrier resource knowledge. CTB certification is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for assisting all load coverage assigned
  • Procuring outside carrier equipment for all spot business
  • Aiding the Capacity Manager with research for new or existing business development
  • Responsible for posting any available freight not in the system to the necessary load boards
  • A competitive attitude is a must
  • Ensures all new carrier packets are complete prior to handing off for review
  • Failure to move a load(s) must be reported to your direct superior, unless otherwise stated, via email, no later than the scheduled appointment or one hour prior to the close of a first-come-first-serve facility.
  • Achieving departmental revenue and margin goals on freight covered
  • Calling carriers daily to capture available capacity
  • Book trucks on loads in a profitable and efficient manner
  • Set monthly goals, track goals, and ultimately responsible for adding carrier capacity and business growth for the department.
  • Candidate must be able to handle repetitive work without losing interest, have attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task
  • Professional communication and support of internal customer; the Customer Service Team
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 3-5 years of transportation brokerage .
  • This individual must possess excellent broker skills, be self-motivated, goal oriented and be a dependable individual in order to maintain on-going relationships and monitor activities with customers and prospects.
  • Naturally, this individual will be a risk taker and will push to grow the brokerage business.
  • Technical Knowledge of DOT Hour of Service regulations & a thorough understanding of U.S. geography required.
  • Must be able to handle a fast-paced, stressful work environment and be on-call as needed.
  • Strong ability to deal effectively and tactfully with customers and peers is necessary.
  • Ability to make decisions in a timely and professional manner, plus have analytical ability, initiative and problems solving ability.
  • A sense of confidence and a positive, friendly attitude are important.
  • The Capacity Representative candidate must have the vision, drive, and interpersonal skills to succeed.
