Sr. Construction Estimator (Direct Hire)
Position Summary:
The Sr. Construction Estimator position will be responsible for preparing estimation/bid packages for the industrial and heavy commercial construction industry. This is a full-time, direct hire opportunity!
Position Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare detailed accurate material, labor, equipment, subcontracts, construction facilities, estimates, etc. (and ability to prepare T&M Estimates).
  2. Foster relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
  3. Share information about reliable subcontractors and suppliers with other Estimators.
  4. Develop and review subcontractor scopes of work and accept, review, and analyze subcontractor quotes for best value.
  5. Develop RFI's and clarifications and ensure adequate subcontractor coverage.
  6. Attend onsite pre-bid/proposal conferences and site visits.
  7. Performs a comprehensive "bid day" analysis and scoping of specific assigned trades.
  8. Create bid lists that fit the scope of the job, ensuring that we have the right subs for the project.
  9. Prepare project bid status reports and ensure compliance with all specifications and contract Statements of Work and Bid Invitations.
  10. Present cost estimates to meet customer proposals, providing consideration for general and special conditions.
  11. Prepare scope specifications and requirements, prepare and input project schedules, perform quantity takeoffs, prepare cost summary sheets, and input quantities into estimating software.
  12. Maintain an accurate, current database cost codes of account for historical data.
  13. Properly turn over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management in a timely manner.
  14. Review documents with the Project Management team and highlight areas of concern.
  15. Review job cost with the Project Management team and highlight any subs/material vendors that still need to be awarded.
  16. Complete project kick-off form to ensure compliance.
  17. Review company jobs and compare on a timely basis to as-sold estimates to confirm the accuracy of the estimate.
  18. Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  1. 4-year degree in Building Construction.
  2. 7-10 years related estimating experience.
  3. Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software (EDGE, Plan Swift).
  4. Comply with all ISO standards and procedures.
  5. Advanced project estimator skills that include performing engineering calculations, being conversant in engineering nomenclature to effectively communicate with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Project Managers, Plant Engineering, and vendors.
