Job Description

Five physician specialty practice, with primary location in Northern Virginia, seeks an experienced professional who will be responsible for a wide variety of duties. GYN experience required. Oncology experience preferred. Experience with GE Centricity is a plus. $10K Signing Bonus!!

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • The RN provides leadership in a professional practice setting and is a team player who contributes to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
  • Contributes to maintaining a safe environment and constantly considers patient condition, complexity of the intervention, and predictability of the outcome.
  • Performs comprehensive outpatient case management screening/assessment for all patients per company policy and appropriately identifies potential care planning needs.
  • Partners with providers to coordinate patient's treatment and post-treatment plan to ensure all critical elements have been addressed and patient is moved to the appropriate next level of care.
  • Liaison for patients beginning chemotherapy when starting initial treatment, helping patients navigate through chemotherapy.
  • Schedule chemotherapy, port placements, and chemo teaching.
  • Triage phone calls from chemotherapy patients and help with side effect control.
  • Assesses patient records / change of condition, notifies provider, intervenes appropriately, and documents accordingly.
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to proactively identify and appropriately address medically complex and/or psychosocial-related comprehensive care barriers.
  • Works closely with RNs, Pharmacists, Doctors, Nurse Practitioner, and the infusion room to assist with chemo dosing, changes, etc., so that the patient can be moved appropriately through the care continuum.
  • Facilitate specimens for molecular testing.
  • Review and record lab values. Notify patients if abnormal and give precautions if needed.
  • Initiate parp inhibitor authorization and monitor lab values and side effects during treatment.
  • Communicates care coordination through thorough documentation in the electronic medical record and by verbal interactions with the providers, patient and family.
  • Writes letters of medical necessity.
  • Help processing PA for medications if needed.

  • Regularly communicates with direct supervisor/administrator regarding practice problems, issues, and potential resolutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and experience: Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years oncology nursing experience in acute care or outpatient oncology setting. (Bachelor's degree and/or OCN credential is preferred.) Three years’ experience in healthcare required. Experience with a multi-provider practice preferred.

Current CPR certificate

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
