Join the Wealth Platform Integration, Data and Artificial Intelligence team and help us leverage our vast network of knowledge assets to deliver personalized, quality information at the point of need. As the Director of Data Stewardship, you’ll lead the data stewardship community of Edward Jones to ensure our data assets are cared for through their complete lifecycle.
What you'll do:
You will lead teams both directly and indirectly through matrixed leadership structure to define, implement, and champion trusted, protected, accessible and well understood data assets required to fuel Edward Jones' transformation. This includes:
  • Accountable for enterprise data domain strategy and to ensure the strategic view of data over its entire lifecycle
  • Accountable to ensure domain data meets the needs of consuming stakeholders and supports the firm's current and future business needs
  • Monitoring and reporting on the quality of data assets, the platforms managing them and adherence to standards through the establishment and regular reporting of KPIs
  • Leads and influences the prioritization of firm data needs and consuming stakeholder needs across the enterprise
  • Be a change agent for data literacy, lead Data Steward Team Leaders and data sub domain owners, and collaborate with different parts of the organization to advance and mature our data governance posture via our stewardship community
  • Accountable to ensure best practices are being leveraged and enforced in firm initiatives via the stewardship community, which requires partnering closely with the Data Governance COE (center of excellence).
  • Help define, implement, and lead our data stewardship operating model.
  • Partner with the Data Governance COE to define key performance indicators, including data quality, to monitor and track the health and growth of our data assets.
  • Lead change management, communication, training, and education initiatives.
  • Responsible within their area for recruiting, hiring, and developing diverse talent necessary to fulfill our vision for the organization and achieve key outcomes.
  • Develop and manage business relationships with leaders across the organization in order to lead and contribute to key initiatives and/or respond to regulatory requests.
  • Provide thought leadership and align the work of the area to the overall strategy of Data Governance and the specific business area.
  • Partnering with other key governance leaders and functions as part of Edward Jones' Enterprise Information Governance ecosystem – including Data governance, Analytics governance, Security, Privacy, and Records Management

What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education & experience is required with an emphasis in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or MIS strongly preferred.
  • 12-15+ years of experience with progressive responsibility, preferably in roles related to data governance, data management, data analytics, and/or executing strategic programs.
  • Prior leadership experience with increasing levels of responsibility. Advanced to expert level understanding of data and analytics. Significant experience in the financial services industry.
  • 5+ years leading associates or leading in a matrixed environment on large governance projects preferred.
  • SIE or Series 7 required within 6 months.
  • Preference to candidates with knowledge of data governance best practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and relationship skills
  • Experience in Wealth Management / Financial Services industry, functional and/or technical area of expertise.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Problem solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking
  • Comfortable leading and working through ambiguous situations to define precise requirements and priorities and drive actionable outcomes
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated capacity to develop and implement practical strategies, plans and solutions to identified issues and problems

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:
