Job Description

Job Title: Lead Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Thousand Oaks, CA

About the role:

Under the supervision of Maintenance Manager, the Lead Maintenance Mechanic performs and oversees maintenance activities for their assigned shift. The Lead oversees activities and coordination of emergency requests in all areas owned by Maintenance at the site. Lead and support the maintenance shift through guidance and general oversight.

How you will contribute:
  • Demonstrate in depth understanding of site operations, process and utilities equipment and support systems.
  • Assist the supervisor(s) with JDE/work order management and assignments. Includes assigning (Priority #1) emergency JDE work orders.
  • With support, performs troubleshooting, diagnosis, repairs, and preventive maintenance of plant equipment (process, utilities, and support systems). Also, oversee troubleshooting and provide guidance/direction to mechanics.
  • Manage emergency phone during the assigned shift; coordinate emergency support for assigning mechanics, evaluating, and communicating priorities and escalation.
  • Provide recommendations for improvement to Preventative Maintenance procedures and programs
  • Run staff and shift change over meetings.
  • Adhere to safety rules and ensure compliance with CA state and federal EPA regulation and laws. Specific responsible system repairs, upkeep, maintenance, and operations managed within regulating agencies such as CAL OSHA and OSHA.
  • Ensures personal training and qualifications are up to date. Assists mechanics on shift to verify their qualification status.
  • Interact with and oversee contractor/vendor work.
  • Provide regulatory and partner audit support.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, I/O wiring and panel drawings, Utility, process system/equipment, plumbing, ductwork, and HVAC P&ID's.
  • Constructively interact and collaborate with peers and clients in manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, utility plants, analytical labs, and contracted services.
  • Proactively looks for opportunities to educate group and external departments.
  • Meet with outgoing and incoming shift lead/management to assess schedule adherence and align on expectations for incoming shift activities.
  • Facilitate shift change over by updating board and conducting meetings with latest schedule of manufacturing activities, provide process updates, and ensure shift notes are accurate and delays escalated.
  • Proactively removes barriers that would delay operations. Attends planning meeting as department representative and takes appropriate action items.
  • Schedule and assign daily tasks, breaks, and monitor execution of required tasks as set by manager. Be aware of staff training needs and assign daily tasks accordingly.

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 6+ years of related work experience.
  • Enthusiastic team player with demonstrated history of flexibility.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, and utilize resources efficiently
  • Able to provide feedback for operations & elevate concerns as needed.
  • Able to effectively lead cross-functional meetings and effectively engage team and management.
  • Requires basic familiarity with generally accepted building, plumbing, piping, electrical, and fire protection practices and codes to include NFPA, NEC, UBC, UMC and UPC in compliance with Company EH&S and Factory Mutual requirements.
  • Must be familiar with plant and global SOPs as related to position and department responsibilities.

Important Considerations

At Takeda, our patients rely on us to deliver quality products. As a result, we must follow strict rules in our manufacturing facilities to ensure we are not endangering the quality of the product. In this role, you may:

  • Work in controlled environments requiring special gowning.
  • May be required to manage hazardous wastes in compliance with company procedures & State/Federal/Local hazardous waste regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing, labeling, and on-site transporting of hazardous wastes.
  • Able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 15 lbs.
  • Will work in a cold, wet environment; some clean room and cool/hot storage conditions.
  • May be required to work in a confined area.
  • Required to work an alternate work schedule (10-hour shift / 4 days a week).
  • May require overtime, weekend, and holiday work.
  • May be required to work or be assigned to a different shift as needed.
  • May require on call availability after hours.

Base Salary Range: $ 56,000 to $ 80,000. Employees may also be eligible for Short Term and Long-Term Incentive benefits. Employees are eligible to participate in Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401(k), Charitable Contribution Match, Holidays, Personal Days & Vacation, Tuition Reimbursement Program, and Paid Volunteer Time Off.

The final salary offered for this position may take into account a number of factors, including, but not limited to, location, skills, education, and experience.
