Salary: $20-$25


As a Service Security Technician, you will be responsible for installing, programming, repair wiring and equipment for intrusion, access control, automation, A/V, surveillance systems and other products as required while ensuring all work performed is compliant with mandated codes.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Reliable and professional installation, repair and maintenance of intrusion, access control, automation, A/V, and surveillance systems
  • Install all required cabling, system components and programming required to make a system operational
  • Properly train customers in the use of their system - demonstrate for customers and explain details such as the causes and consequences of false alarms
  • Fire stop various types of cable penetrations 
  • Stay current with new products and developments
  • When on call, ensures availability by telephone contact at all times for service calls
  • Perform other duties as required- completing all required paperwork


Knowledge and Skill Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Understand basic Automation and Security systems and installation methods
  • Must have at least 2 years’ experience in the installation and maintenance on intrusions, access control, automation, A/V and surveillance systems
  • Ability to trouble-shoot, diagnose and make repairs to various low voltage systems including but not limited to intrusion, access control, automation, A/V, and surveillance systems
  • Must have or be able to obtain a Maryland State Police Security Technician License – Company sponsored
  • Must be able to read blueprints and schematics
  • Must have knowledge of basic computer skills and be able to demonstrate good writing skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook are very helpful
  • Must work well with little supervision individually and in a team environment
  • Must be knowledgeable in various wiring configurations and terminations
  • Must be knowledgeable in computer hardware/software network basics such as switches, routers, electronic and power tools
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs boxes
  • Ability to use an extension ladder and an extensive step ladder
  • Knowledge with Control 4, Honeywell and GE/Interlogic products is a plus
